I like the link between religions, which I consider as cultures of faith. The three great religions called religions of the book seem to me fascinating because of their common history, their sources. It is on this basis that I decided to write Sources.
A Catholic text, by Marie de l’Incarnation, a Frenchwoman who went to Quebec at the beginning of the seventeenth century, another by Ahmed Yasivi, a Sufi poet born in what is now Kazakhstan in the eleventh century, and an extract from the ritual of Yom Kippur, that «great forgiveness» which should allow everyone to overcome resentment, pain and the spirit of revenge.
This cycle of three poems is a work of peace and hope, based on the intimate reflection that these texts bring to their readers. The music is intended to be a haven for the reception of these words. The work consists of a lamento first, which deals with‘inner occupation’; then a race to the abyss in the second, lively and rich in harmonic colours, and finally a third in which, something rare for me, I involve the instrumentalists by singing and playing at the same time.
I have conceived these twelve minutes as a whole. Of course, they can be sung separately, but they are designed to respond to each other and enrich each other.
