Some of the composers published by Éditions Musicales Artchipel are already internationally renowned. Others have yet to be discovered by lovers of contemporary music. We strive to make their music known so that it can enrich the heritage of contemporary music
Perpetuum mobile is a piece driven from start to finish by a repeating motif.
These repetitions give rise to a wide variety of variations, from the most “serious” to the most playful. The overall rhythm is constant, with no interruptions.
Little by little, the performers enter into a kind of cadence that allows them to bring all kinds of different modes of expression into play on top of each other. Playing, singing, gestural accompaniment and, finally, inviting the audience to sing along with the orchestra – these are the stages traversed by this joyful journey.
There are many examples of pieces using the perpetuum mobile, or perpetual motif, in the history of music: Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and right up to the present century. Many are serious in style. This one is serious about providing a rich cognitive experience for children, and for teachers, the satisfaction of being able to show children a wide variety of things, in small, fun steps.
